Superfast South Yorkshire is investing almost £29m in fibre broadband to bring faster broadband connectivity to almost 99% of businesses and residents across South Yorkshire. The partnership was formed in late 2014 with the four South Yorkshire local authorities and BT in a multi million pound deal to extend the availability of high-speed, fibre broadband. Additional funding was secured and targeted to prioritise South Yorkshire’s Enterprise Zone and key strategic business parks across the region and provide ultrafast technology that is capable of meets todays business needs. Superfast South Yorkshire is also investing heavily to raise the awareness and promote the wide ranging business benefits to encourage greater adoption and exploitation of technology by South Yorkshires businesses.

The project receive funding from Sheffield City Region LEP, the Government’s Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) fund, BT, Sheffield City Council, Barnsley Metropolitan Council, Doncaster Metropolitan Council and Rotherham Metropolitan Council and the Sheffield City Region European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), part of the European Structural Investment Fund (ESIF) portfolio 2015 to 2020.
