Sheffield Business School (SBS) is delighted and proud to be sponsoring the SME of the Year Award at the Sheffield Business Awards 2018.
As Britain’s largest modern business school, with more than 6,000 students, we are an intrinsic part of a vibrant city known for community, respect for diversity, choices, and quality of life. Our teaching and research covers a range of modern sectors including banking, food, hospitality, tourism and events management.
It is our mission to deliver a broad range of education and research that is informed, influenced and enriched by our relationships with industry, business and the wider community.
Our unique partnerships with businesses across the Sheffield City Region, as well as national and global companies, provides students with ideas, experiences, techniques, career opportunities and business connections.
This creates an environment dedicated to caring for, and nurturing the potential of the individual as well as meeting the needs of employers.
We are focused on the employment prospects of our students and work in partnership with around 2,000 employers every year, through support including internships, work placements, graduate recruitment and projects.
Earlier this year SBS was delighted to received Small Business Charter accreditation in recognition of its outstanding support to small businesses and student entrepreneurship. SBS was particularly praised for its dedication to student start-ups and its commitment to the local economy.
In April SBS launched Innovate: SBS Advice Centre - a new dedicated business advice centre on campus where students, tutors and entrepreneurs get together to deliver consultancy work for local businesses and start-ups, giving companies access to Hallam's academic expertise, facilities and resources to support and develop business growth.
The university is also launching its new MSc in Entrepreneurship in September 2018 for those launching new social or commercial enterprises.
At Sheffield Business School we nurture the entrepreneurial spirit of our students and many of our graduates have gone on set up their own small companies within our city region so this award holds particular significance for us.
